Functional Capacity Evaluations

The purpose of a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) or Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE) is to provide an objective measure of a patient's/client's safe functional abilities compared to the physical demands of work. Functional examination/evaluation, combined with diagnoses and prognoses by physical therapists has become an effective tool for safely returning employees to employment.
The Functional Capacity Evaluation today quantifies safe functional abilities, and is a pivotal resource for return to work, job placement decisions, disability evaluation, determination of work function, intervention and treatment planning, case management and case closure for work related injuries.
FCE/PCE may include:
- Musculoskeletal Evaluation
- Modified Functional Capacity Evaluation
- Pre-Work Screen
- Functional Job Analysis
- Work Conditioning
